Walks & rides

The beaches and coastal dunes of Essaouira lend themselves to every pace. By camel, on horseback, by quad or bicycle, ride along the ocean towards Cap Sim. Several options depending on duration and preference.

Horseback on the beach

At sunset, gallop along Essaouira's endless beach, between ocean and dunes. Barb and Arab-Barb horses, accompanied by local riders. From one-hour rides to half-day outings, suited to beginners and seasoned riders alike.

Golf de Mogador

An 18-hole course designed by Gary Player, set within the Mogador estate facing the Atlantic. A technical layout winding through dunes, argan trees and views of the Purpuraires islands. 15 minutes from the riad.

Kitesurf, surf & windsurf

Essaouira is the city of trade winds. A partner school, steps from the beach, offers lessons and coaching in all three disciplines. Reliable wind conditions year-round.

Every day, a different souk comes to life in the surrounding villages. Routes adapt to the calendar and your interests.

Atlantic coast — Sidi Kaouki & Cap Sim

  • Argan cooperative along the way
  • Sidi Kaouki beach, lunch facing the ocean
  • Cap Sim and return through the coastal dunes

Hinterland — Argan forest & Berber villages

  • Country souk (depending on the day: Had Adra, Meskala, Neknafa…)
  • Walk through argan forest, lunch with a local family
  • Local cooperatives: argan oil, goat cheese, pottery

Heritage — Oasis, kasbahs & craftsmanship

  • Ain Lahjar oasis: natural spring, cave, Koranic school
  • Craft workshops: thuya carving, tadelakt, weaving
